    Jeff Daniels in talks to star in Allegiant: Part 1 and Part 2

    Jeff Daniels is in talks to star in the final two films of the Divergent franchise. The 60-year-old-actor is close to striking a deal for him to appear in Allegiant: Part 1 and Part 2. If all goes well Daniels, will be seen essaying the role of the leader of the Bureau of Genetic Welfare.

    The Divergent franchise is the big screen adaptation of the book series by Veronica Roth. The book focuses upon the conflict between five groups in a post-apocalyptic society that emerges from the ruins of Chicago. The movie is being produced by Lions Gate Entertainment along with Doug Wick,Lucy Fisher and Pouya Shahbazian. The film will be helmed by Insurgent director Robert Schwentke, and will begin shooting the first part in May.

    The first two films of the franchise have earned in excess of $550 million at the box office. It appears to be a busy year for Daniels, as he will be working on Ridley Scott’s The Martian. The actor will also be seen in a supporting role in Steve Jobs, a biopic on the founder of Apple Inc.
