Jeffrey Dean Morgan to play Baseball player

According to sources, Watchmen actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan has been cast as Marilyn Monroe's baseball star husband Joe Dimaggio in a new biopic. The actor will portray the New York Yankees slugger in upcoming mini-series Marilyn, which is based on J. Randy Taraborrelli's book, The Secret Life of Marilyn Monroe. Kelli Garner has already been cast as Monroe and Susan Sarandon will play the screen icon's mother Gladys.

Morgan, 48, starred in “Magic City,” set in 1959 Miami, as Mob-connected hotel owner Ike Evans. The series ran for two seasons on Starz and was canceled in 2013. It’s being resurrected as a big-screen movie set in 1962 - with Morgan reprising his role as Evans and new co-stars include Bruce Willis and Bill Murray. Morgan has also appeared in “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Shameless” and “Supernatural.”
