Jim Carrey is in talks to star in True Crimes, reported by TheWrap. The film is based on an article by David Grann, published by New Yorker in 2008. The movie has been described as an indie thriller.

The film will be helmed by Alexandros Avranas. The story focuses on a murder investigation. In order to solve the crime the investigators turn to a book, which tells the tale of bizarrely similar crime. David Grann’s article was first adopted by The Last King of Scotland writer Jeremy Brock.

The movie will be produced by Brett Ratner and John Cheng along with David Gerson, Ewa Puszczynska and Michael Aguilar. Carrey was last seen on the big screen in the hit sequel Dumb and Dumber To. The two-time Golden Globe winner will also be seen in The Bad Patch, later this year.
