Jimmy Olsen joins 'Supergirl' cast

According to a leading daily, Necessary Roughness, True Blood and Desperate Housewives star Mehcad Brooks has been cast as James Olsen in the superhero show, which is based on the DC Comics characters. The show is expected to debut during the 2015-2016 TV season.

The project stars Melissa Benoist as Kara Zor-El, who escaped Krypton amid its destruction years ago. Since arriving on Earth, she’s been hiding the powers she shares with her famous cousin. But now at age 24, she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be. Arrow and The Flash executive producer Greg Berlanti and No Ordinary Family‘s Ali Adler will write the script as well as executive producer for the same alongside Sarah Schecter.
