Hollywood heartthrob Johnny Depp is reportedly engaged in talks to star in Lionsgate/Summit's The Secret Life of Houdini: The Making of America's First Superhero as celebrated magician, Harry Houdini.

The project is set to be directed by Dean Parisot. The story, which will follow up Indiana Jones, reprises the role of Houdini as not just a master escape artist. He will be also seen as an investigator in the film. The screenplay of the film is based on William Kalush and Larry Sloman's book with the same name and Noah Oppenheim has scripted the same. Recently Depp has been going through dual box-office flop-shows as both his Transcendence and The Lone Ranger were not-so-successful.

Now he is set to get back to form as he will be reprising his roles in two blockbuster franchises, Pirates of the Caribbean 5 and Alice in Wonderland’s sequel. As soon as Depp wraps up shooting for Black Mass he will board his next, Alice 2 or more popularly known as Through the Looking Glass. Now the question remains if Secret Life of Houdini will begin shooting before Pirates 5. As Lionsgate is aiming to start the shoot during this November, it can postpone Pirates' production to early 2015.
