Channing Tatum-Mila Kunis starrer Jupiter Ascending will not release on its scheduled date, July 18, and the reason behind the delay is wide-ranging special effects which require more time to be finished off. Hence Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. has postponed the film’s release till February 6, 2015.

The decision has come out only some weeks before its slated release date. The domestic distribution chief, Dan Fellman, informed that the director-duo, Lana Wachowski and Andrew Paul Wachowski or the Wachowskis, required some more time to complete their work with utmost perfection as more than 2,000 special effect shots are needed in the film. Fellman said, “With the July release date, they were just not going to make it on time,” adding, “A lot of the issue for us was getting it ready for the international release, since the foreign territories need additional time.” Apart from Tatum and Kunis, Jupiter Ascending also stars Eddie Redmayne, Douglas Booth and Sean Bean in other key roles. This space opera film will face box-office clash from Lionsgate’s Mortdecai and Universal’s Seventh Son.
