    The franchise made a comeback after 14 years and has outshined the box office, making new records. Jurassic World, has become the first ever movie to cross $500 million in just one weekend, leaving behind Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2, which collected $483.2 million. With that, Jurassic Park has also become the second highest grosser in domestic market with $204.6 collections, lying behind The Avengers, which made $207.4 million.

    Nick Carpou, Universal President of domestic distribution talked of the film’s success and said, “It is extraordinary. The film has resonated with audiences around the world. He further added, “Dinosaurs are fascinating to everyone. It’s cross-cultural”.

    Ranked at number 2 is Spy, which earned $16 million in its second weekend. On the other hand, San Andreas swept $11 million. The movies that followed the list include Insidious Chapter 3, Pitch Perfect 2, Entourage, Mad Max: Fury Road, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Tomorrowland and Love & Mercy.
