The night of America glowed bright with American Music Awards on Sunday when pop stars Justin Timberlake, Taylor Swift and Macklemore & Ryan became the early winners to fetch American Music Awards. The 32-year-old Timberlake beat R&B singers Bruno Mars and Robin Thicke and was awarded with favourite male artist award for his album ‘The 20/20 Experience’. He bowled the audience with his performance on ‘Drink You Away’.

Taylor Swift was honoured for her 2012’s album ‘Red’ with two awards the same night: The non-televised favourite female pop/rock award and the televised favourite country album award. She comments, "'Red' is very different from any album I've made before and the reason I was able to do that is because of the fans ... the fact that 6 million of you went out to buy it. That is crazy." Macklemore & Ryan Lewis got artist of the year award for ‘The Heist’ and drew light on prevailing racism, "I want to acknowledge Trayvon Martin and the hundreds and hundreds of kids who die every year due to racial profiling ... it's time we look out for the youth and fight racism and the laws that protect it."

Rihanna, for the seventh time, received favourite female soul/R&B award. Other award winners were Lumineers and Mumford & Sons, who picked favourite alternative rock artists honour. Billy Ray Cyrus also made his presence in the award ceremony.
