Kate Winslet Lends Her Voice For Mary and the Witch's Flower

The Japanese anime fantasy film 'Mary and the Witch's Flower’ is being developed in English and Kate Winslet will lead the cast of voice actors. Jim Broadbent, Ruby Barnhill and Louis Ashbourne Serkis will also be lending their voices for the flick. The original film, which was released on July 8, brought in more than $27 million at the Japanese box office.

The Japanese version was directed by Yonebayashi who is known for his Oscar nominated flick ‘When Marnie Was There’. ‘Mary and the Witch's Flower’ is based on British children's author Mary Stewart’s ‘The Little Broomstick’. It tells the story of an adventurous girl in a school of magic.

The English screenplay has been adapted by David Freedman and Lynda Freedman. Kate will soon be seen in ‘The Mountain Between Us’ where she shares screen space with Idris Elba. The flick has been directed Hany Abu-Assad and will hit theatres on October 6.
