Katie to do everything to thwart Cruises attempts to get Suris joint custody

Former Dawson's Creek star Katie Holmes, who is all set to fight a bitter divorce battle with superstar husband Tom Cruise, is ready to do anything to get the sole custody of their six-year-old daughter Suri. The actress filed for divorce from the Hollywood star in New York last week mainly due to her fear that Tom will send Suri to the Scientology "boot camp" like his other adopted children with former wife Nicole Kidman -- Isabella and Connor. According to a close source to Katie, "Bella and Connor aren't that close to Nicole, and Katie is determined that she won't be cut out of Suri's life. Bella and Connor are devoted to their father and Scientology, and Katie saw this firsthand, and this is one of the reasons she filed for sole custody. Katie will not be relegated to a secondary role in her daughter's life, period, and she is prepared to fight Tom in court. Katie isn't going to back down, and she will do whatever it takes to ensure that she raises Suri herself". In the meantime, the actress seems to be moving ahead emotionally after taking the decision to free herself from her control-freak husband, who used to choose what she should wear and whom she should meet. Unlike her previous appearances in shapeless jeans, lank hair and frumpy flats, when Katie stepped out of her new rented New York apartment first time since the split was announced, she was seen in a sleek designer dress, immaculate make-up and five inch footwear. It is also being reported that though the actress will receive virtually nothing following the split due to the pre-nup agreement between the pair, she is not worried about money. According to TMZ.com, Katie, is less than concerned about the money she will receive as she loves to work. She is likely to take her movie career more seriously now and she will start the shooting of Responsible Adults with Chace Crawford later this year.
