Manimal headed for a Big Screen adaptation
The famous television action adventure drama ‘Manimal’ is on its way to be made into a movie. Renowned Comedians Will Ferrell and Adam McKay have reportedly come together to jointly produce the film. However, it was two years back that the Big Screen remake of this cult TV show was announced but it is officially going into the making now.
Jay Martel and Ian Roberts have been roped in to write the script of the movie. The show that starred Simon MacCorkindale and Melody Anderson in the lead was pretty popular in the U.S. in spite of only having 8 episodes. It was based on a character called Dr. Jonathan Chase who had the special power to turn into any animal he wanted and used this power to help police solve cases. Talking about the deal, one of the co-producers Adam Mckay said "Like `The Catcher in the Rye` or `The Sound and the Fury`, `Manimal` has always been one of those elusive projects every producer dreams of taking to the silver screen.I know the movie will be funny and entertaining but will it be the first film to win a Pulitzer? We`ll just have to see.”
