It is not common that many film stars go for physical transformation if the script demands. One such is Hollywood actor Matthew McConaughey who goes to a great extent to fit into his character. Recently, the Oscar-winning actor went on a 10-day fast after gaining around 50 pounds for portraying the role of prospector Kenny Wells in the movie ‘Gold’.

McConaughey is a pro when it comes to gaining and losing weight for his movies. In 2013, the 47-year-old went for a drastic body transformation for playing the role of Ron Woodroof, a man who was diagnosed with AIDS and was on the verge of dying, in ‘Dallas Buyers Club’. The actor was lauded for his performance in the movie which won him an Oscar.

The Interstellar star stated that gaining weight was very easy as he got to eat delicious and tasty food items but it was as difficult to get back to his original body as he had to take extreme measures. The former Sexiest Man Alive said, “Putting it on was easier and fun - cheeseburgers, beer, whatever I wanted. Taking it off, I did a 10-day fast just to kick-start my body into saying, 'Oh we're going without!'".
