Please Don't Call Me A National Treasure...I Hate It!: Judi Dench

Hollywood veteran actress Judi Dench is known to today’s generation with her role as M in the James Bond franchise movies. Dench is also a remarkable theatre actress and an author. The Skyfall star is also a seven-time Oscar nominee and has won Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Queen Elizabeth I in Shakespeare in Love.

Judi recently stated that she does not want anyone to call her a ‘National Treasure’. It seems that the 82-year-old diva thinks of the term as a vintage term, only appropriate to depict precious pieces of art. She was quoted as saying, “National treasure! Oh, please don't say that! Everyone says it, everyone. It's horrible, it's awful. I hate it”.

The Mrs Brown actress further added, “I'd like much more to be the 'Notes on a Scandal' woman than the 'Marigold Hotel' woman, do you know what I mean?”. Her movie 'Notes on a Scandal' was a psychological thriller-drama film, where she portrayed the role of a senior high school teacher who has a love affair with younger woman. In ‘The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel’, the actress played as a widowed housewife, who comes to India on a holiday.
