Neil Gaiman eyes Tom Hiddleston for The Sandman

Neil Gaiman eyes Tom Hiddleston for The Sandman

As development on Warner Bros, "Sandman" feature film continues, but the seminal comic book’s writer, Neil Gaiman, has revealed that he thinks Tom Hiddleston should play the lead character.

According to the sources, Gaiman was discussing The Sandman movie with a leading newspaper, when he said, "Tom Hiddleston is still out there. And the truth is, as far as I'm concerned, anybody who sounds English with great cheekbones can probably pull it off." Tom Hiddleston is not the first actor that Neil Gaiman has tipped to play the lead role of Morpheus in The Sandman film, as he has previously mentioned other stars. Neil once wanted Johnny Depp to take on the role, whle he had been hopeful of Benedict Cumberbatch signing on, before the actor took on the role of Doctor Strange for Marvel. Gaiman added, "There was a time Johnny Depp would've been a great Morpheus, but now he's too old and its fine. I think the first time I saw Benedict was as Sherlock Holmes, I thought, 'Wow, that's incredibly Morpheus.” Gaiman has previously hinted that the film may only be the first in a series of adaptations from DC Comics imprint Vertigo.
