Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka booked for 'American Horror Story'

How I Met Your Mother and Gone Girl star Neil Patrick Harris, along with husband David Burtka, will guest star in American Horror Story: Freak Show later this season. Harris, who will be hosting the Oscars this year and recently signed on to host a variety show at NBC and previously guest starred on Murphy's dramedy Glee, where in 2010 he sang a wild rendition of Aerosmith's, "Dream On." Harris will appear as a salesman in the last two episodes of the season, while Burtka will be involved in a storyline with Jessica Lange’s character, Elsa Mars.

According to a source, Harris admitted that he would love to join the horror hit, saying that he reached out to creator Ryan Murphy. Harris is a big fan of the show and was even invited on set back in August by the show co-creator Ryan Murphy.  “I wrote a letter to Ryan asking if I can be in it, even though I wasn’t even available to be in it,” said Harris. “To do one that involves any kind of freak, circus nonsense is going to be so unsettling to watch. Can’t wait” he added.
