    It is a win-win situation for David O. Russell's American Hustle as it has managed to bag the biggest prizes for best film, best screenplay and best supporting actress at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards 2013. The biggest honours were supposed to be given to other big names like 12 Years a Slave, Gravity or Inside Llewyn Davis but American Hustle has broken all the expectations.

    Besides Jennifer Lawrence receiving the best supporting actress for American Hustle, the best actors’ list includes Cate Blanchett (Blue Jasmine), Robert Redford (All Is Lost) and Jared Leto (Dallas Buyers Club). Steve McQueen won the best director award for 12 Years a Slave which was also the sole prize for the film. Inside Llewyn Davis was awarded for best cinematography and Stories We Tell, Blue Is The Warmest Color and Fruitvale Station bagged trophies for best non-fiction film, best foreign film and best first feature, respectively. The New York Film Critics Circle was founded in 1935 and its members’ list includes critics from leading daily and weekly newspapers, magazines and online publications. The awards will be handed out during the circle’s annual ceremony in January.Here is the complete list of the winners:

    • Best Foreign Language Film: Blue is the Warmest Color, directed by Abdellatif Kechiche

    • Best Animated Feature: The Wind Rises, directed by Hayao Miyazaki

    • Best First Feature: Fruitvale Station, directed by Ryan Coogler
