No Len Wiseman for the reboot of The Mummy

Len Wiseman has called it quits from Universal’s The Mummy reboot and the news has been confirmed by THR. Though nothing much was revealed behind the sudden exit, date issues have been blamed for the same.

Wiseman directed the Fox TV programme Sleepy Hollow and is scheduled to direct the first few episodes too. The director went on The Mummy’s board last year and was working with Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci along with Sean Daniels and Jim Jacks on the modern version of the story. The script has been written by Jon Spaihts.

Wiseman landed with the project as he has been quite successful in blending horror and action in his films. His successful Underworld movie franchise proves his talent at its best. His most recent work was 2012's Total Recall remake. Now the hunt for a new director for the project will begin on the part of Universal and the producers.
