    Oscar de la Renta, the doyen of American fashion dies at 82

     Famous designer Oscar de la Renta, who reshaped the public image of famous Hollywood stars for more than four decades died at the age of 82. De la Renta died at home in Kent on Monday. According to a statement, signed by two of his company's executives, Alex Bolen and Eliza Bolen, De la Renta was surrounded by family and friends when he passed away.

    "While our hearts are broken by the idea of life without Oscar, he is still very much us. Oscar's hard work, his intelligence and his love of life are at the heart of our company," the statement said.

    The statement further read, "All that we have done, and all that we will do, is informed by his values and his spirit. Through Oscar's example we know the way forward. We will make Oscar very proud of us by continuing in an even stronger way the work that Oscar loved so much."

    The cause of his death is not yet confirmed. However, De la Renta was diagnosed with cancer. Besides his wife, Annette, Oscar de la Renta is survived by a son, three sisters, three stepchildren and nine step-grandchildren.
