Rian Johnson Wanted To Make Star Wars: The Last Jedi Emotional

Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson has said that he always wanted the movie to be an emotional one. Star Wars: The Last Jedi is the eighth instalment of the popular sci-fi franchise Star Wars. The film saw Mark Hamill returning back as Jedi Master Luke Skywalker, while late Carrie Fisher returned back as General Leia Organa.

Speaking at the world premiere of the sci-fi movie in the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, Rian said, “It’s the middle chapter, so we got to challenge the characters, and it’s going to darker and intense places. I wanted the story to be emotional. That was an element that I really wanted to get in the movie. And because each one of these characters has such a brilliant set-up in ‘The Force Awakens’, I wanted to take each one of them and push them.”

The film saw the return of John Boyega (Finn), Daisy Ridley (Rey), Adam Driver (Kylo Ren). It also starred Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron, Lupita Nyong’o as Maz Kanata, Gwendoline Christie as Captain Phasma, Anthony Daniels as C-3PO, Andy Serkis as Snoke and Domhnall Gleeson as General Lux. Star Wars: The Last Jedi was a final tribute to Carrie Fisher who died of cardiac arrest in 2016.
