Robert De Niro to receive Kirk Douglas Award

Legendary Hollywood actor Robert De Niro has been selected for this year’s Kirk Douglas Award for Excellence in Film at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. The actor will be honoured at a black-tie gala dinner at the Bacara Resort & Spa in Santa Barbara, California on December 8 by Douglas himself.

Announcing the award, Kirk Douglas said, "I am a great fan of De Niro, not only for what he does on screen, but also for establishing the Tribeca Film Festival... It brought joy back to lower Manhattan in the aftermath of 9/11." After receiving the award, the veteran actor will join an illustrious group of past recipients of the award, including Kirk's son Michael Douglas, Harrison Ford, Quentin Tarantino, Ed Harris, John Travolta and Kirk Douglas himself.
