Rosamund Pike Has No Problem With Non-lead Roles

Gone Girl actress Rosamund Pike recently shared that she is quite comfortable in being number two in a movie. She feels that ‘carrying the movie’ is too pressurising and that being second to the lead is right up her alley. The actress spoke about her role in Gone Girl and shared that her co-star Ben Affleck was still number one.

“Ben was still No. One on the call sheet. The guy's usually No. 1... but maybe I'm quite comfortable being No. 2. I quite like that place. I don't know that I'm that easy with being No. 1 Note to self: go home and read scripts where female character is the lead”, said the actress. She added, “I suppose you feel there's somewhere to go. It's an interesting question...You're carrying the movie when you're No 1. and I don't know that I'm ready for that yet. I should be”.

The British actress is looking for someone to play a supporting role in her upcoming yet-to-be titled film. She shared that men usually don’t want to play a supporting character to a woman, which is quite sad. Pike feels that Christian Bale would be perfect for the role as he is “a leading man who quite wants to be a supporting actor, and is quite unusual in that respect”.

Pike will next be seen in ‘A United Kingdom’ which has been directed by Amma Asante. The movie will hit the screens on February 17 next year.
