Shailene Woodley may star in Edward Snowden film

Actress Shailene Woodley, star of "The Fault In Our Stars" and the "Divergent" franchise, is in talks to join the cast of Oliver Stone's upcoming Edward Snowden film. Woodley, 22, would star opposite Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who is tackling the NSA whistleblower in the film, which will be distributed by Open Road in the US.

The film is based on Luke Harding’s book “The Snowden Files: The Inside Story of the World’s Most Wanted Man” and Snowden’s Russian lawyer Anatoly Kucherena’s upcoming novel “Time of the Octopus.” The story will follow Snowden as he moves from Hawaii to Hong Kong before landing in Russia and being granted asylum, all the while dodging extradition back to the US for leaking classified documents. Woodley will play Snowden’s girlfriend. Filming begins in January.
