Slumdog Millionaire star Dev Patel eyeing to take part in Neill Blomkamp’s next sci-fi, Chappie

It has been a flourishing journey in Hollywood for Slumdog Millionaire’s Jamal Malik, Dev Patel. After giving acclaimed performances in The Last Airbender and The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, now it’s time for the young actor to focus on a new project, Elysium director Neill Blomkamp’s next sci-fi film Chappie.

It has been reported that Dev is involved in early negotiations to join the cast of Chappie which also features District 9 star Sharlto Copley. The character-based movie will be produced by Simon Kinberg and is being penned by Blomkamphimself along withTerri Tatchell. In the film Copleywill enact one of thelaw enforcement robots and Patel is on his way to strike a deal to play the lead role. Matt Damon starrer Elysium by Blomkamp is awaiting its release on August 9.
