Spectre will be title for 24th James Bond

The past is new again for agent 007. The next James Bond film will be called "Spectre." Director Sam Mendes announced the name of the 24th official Bond film Thursday at England's Pinewood Studios. Austrian actor Christoph Waltz will join Daniel Craig in the cast. Craig makes his fourth appearance as the rugged British secret service agent.

The plot details read, "A cryptic message from Bond's past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organization. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind SPECTRE." Mendes explained that Daniel Craig will still play Bond, and will be joined by Andrew Scott (Moriarty in BBC's Sherlock, playing Denbigh), Dave Bautista, Monica Bellucci, Christoph Waltz (playing a character called Oerhauser) and Lea Seydoux. While the movie won't be a direct sequel to Skyfall, it will "live in the same world"- which means that Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, and Ben Whishaw will also appear.

Skyfall was easily the best James Bond movie of the modern era, and the $1.1 billion it raked in globally certainly supports that notion. Now, after what has seemed like a painfully long wait despite the fact that Skyfall premiered just two years ago, the film’s sequel finally has a name, a cast, and a release date. Filming will begin at London’s Pinewood Studios, where all the cool movie studios are filming their tentpole pictures these days, this month. Spectre will be directed by Skyfall’s Sam Mendes and shot by Interstellar and Her cinematographer Hoyte Van Hoytema, and is set to release on November 6, 2015.
