‘The Dark Tower’ Director Was Apprehensive About The Film’s Development

It has been a decade since makers of the movie ‘The Dark Tower’ decided to develop it. The film is based on the popular series of books from Stephen King. And finally after 10 long years, the movie is releasing today.

Director Nikolaj Arcel said that there was a time when he felt that the film will not be made. "No one's ever going to adapt it, because it's completely unadaptable. It's a crazy, sprawling, genre-hopping saga," he said.

However, he is thankful to screenwriter Akiva Goldsman who motivated him that the movie could be made and also guided him about how it could be done. The movie stars Idris Elba, Tom Taylor and Matthew McConaughey in the lead. It is mainly drawn from the first novel, 'The Gunslinger', which focuses on the last Gunslinger, Roland Deschain (played by Idris Elba) who is in an eternal battle with Walter O'Dim, also known as the Man in Black (played by Matthew McConaughey). Roland is determined to prevent Walter from falling off the Dark Tower, which holds the universe together. Helping Roland in his goal is Jake (played by Tom Taylor).
