The Magnificent Seven Dominates Weekend Box Office With $35 Million

Antoine Fuqua’s multi starrer ‘The Magnificent Seven’ has taken the box office by storm on its opening weekend, pooling in $35 million domestically. The movie stars Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke, Vincent D’Onofrio, Byung-hun Lee, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo and Martin Sensmeier. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $59 million, which is more than half of its budget of $90 million.

Warner Bros.’ animated flick ‘Storks’ saw an opening weekend of $21 million. The movie has been directed by Nick Stoller and Doug Sweetland. The characters in the movie have been voiced by Andy Samberg, Jennifer Aniston, Ty Burrell, Kelsey Grammer and the famous comedy duo of Key and Peele. Tom Hanks’ ‘Sully’ dropped down to third with its $13 million. Running on its third weekend, the movie has now passed $126 million. Directed by Clint Eastwood, ‘Sully’ was developed on a budget of $60 million, which means great news for the filmmakers.

The Colin Firth and Rene Zellweger starrer ‘Bridget Jones's Baby’ pooled in $4 million domestically, on its second weekend. The worldwide earnings for the romantic comedy have reached $83 million. ‘Snowden’, starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, doesn’t seem to be pulling in the crowds as the movie has made $15 million in 2 weeks. This comes as disappointing news for director Oliver Stone and Open Road Films as the flick was made over a budget of $40 million.
