The vampire craze is nothing new: from folklore to books to cinema, we have followed the vampires everywhere!Over the Years there have been many variations of the blood drinking kind. First there was the classic 'Dracula', the cruel and relentless count played by Bela Lugosi. Much later came the depiction of 'Bram Stroker's Dracula' played by Garry Oldman, an even more bloodthirsty creature who was feared by all.But screenplays soon moved on from the classic vampires who would turn into giant bats in a puff of thick smoke to a new generation of Vampires born with the film adaptation of the Anne Rice novel, 'Interview with the Vampire'. With Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt sporting the pale faced look, the fanged creatures went from scary to steamy! And that's precisely what the film industry wanted; women swooning and the boys wanting to be just like them! The hits kept coming after that. Kiefer Sutherland in 'The Lost Boys', Wesley Snipes in 'Blade' and Collin Farrell in 'Fright Night' - drool, drool and more drool!We also can't forget the femme fatal vampires. Peta Wilson in 'The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen' and Kate Beckinsale in the 'Underworld' series posed to be the kinds of monsters that any man would give his life for willingly!All of this however, was before the 'Twilight Saga'! After the series no one has had an eye for vampires other than Edward Cullen and why should they? Was there ever such a romantic vampire just waiting to sweep us mortals off our feet?!This week, enters Johnny Depp in 'Dark Shadows'! Bringing a humorous twist to the classic vampire tale. Part Dracula, part Cullen and a whole lot of Tim Burton; we have a feeling that this is going to add a new chapter to the vampire lore!So keep your stakes and garlic handy and march on bravely into the world of Vampires!
