    Weinstein Co. accused by Warner Bros. for The Butler title

    Weinstein Co. is under a legal scanner for using The Butler title for its upcoming film. Actually Warner Bros. has previously made a short film in 1916 with the same title. The Butler that was scheduled to release on August 16, as per the complaint by Warner Bros. will be delayed. Warner Bros. has blamed Weinstein of "reckless disregard" for the rules and has demanded a "Weinstein exception".

    A letter was sent to Weinstein Co. written by John W. Spiegel (Warner attorney) on July 4 which states, "TWC has chosen to proceed in reckless disregard of the rules, apparently relying on a self-spun 'Weinstein exception' to the rules whenever and wherever those rules do not solely favor TWC." As per the rules by Warner, the company who ever uses their title for marketing has to pay $25,000 a day.

    David Boies, lawyer representing Weinstein Co. has said that he will probably be filing a temporary restraining order on Friday against the compensation demanded. The Butler directed by Lee Daniels under Weinstein Co., is a story of an African-American butler who worked in the White House. The movie stars Forest Whitaker as the main lead actor.
