Ben Affleck Reveals Why He Will Not Be Directing ‘The Batman’!

Variety has reported that Argo actor Ben Affleck has decided to step down as director of his solo Batman flick tentatively titled ‘The Batman’. Initially, the actor planned on directing and starring in the project but now, he along with Warner Bros. has come to the decision of just staying on as actor and producer. The team is currently searching for a new director.

Affleck explained that he cannot give the required amount of passion to both acting and directing for the best possible outcome. “Performing this role demands focus, passion and the very best performance I can give. It has become clear that I cannot do both jobs to the level they require. Together with the studio, I have decided to find a partner in a director who will collaborate with me on this massive film”, the actor shared. Sources have stated that Affleck’s disappointing directorial ‘Live By Night’ has nothing to do with this decision.

As to who will direct the project, sources state that Matt Reeves is one of the directors who have been shortlisted for the role. The Gone Girl actor will also be playing the Dark Knight in ‘Justice League’ and has completed his work for it. While ‘The Batman’ does not have an official release date as of yet, ‘Justice League’ will hit theatres on November 17.
