American actor Rainn Wilson probably needs no introduction. The Seattle-born actor, who made a mark in showbiz with the role of Dwight Schrutz, a salesman in the popular comedy, The Office, is now busy playing the lead in the crime comedy-drama TV series, Backstorm.

The 49-year-old actor, who spoke to us over the phone from Los Angeles, was a little surprised when we told him that he had a huge fan following in India, “Wow! I didn’t know that they have seen my shows or films. My wife and son actually came to India last year. And I was supposed to go with them, but then I was really busy with the shooting for this series and couldn’t make it. But now I really want to go,” he said.

Wilson then spoke about the evolution of the television industry and feels that content in TV is at par with films. “Earlier, people use to call it (television) an idiot box. The content on it was not that great,” he says, further adding, “But now, things are different. I think films have become more idiotic and television has just raised its level. There are more options as an actor in the TV industry than films.”
