    World-famous actor Mickey Rooney expires at 93

    During the late ’30s and early ’40s Mickey Rooney was a household name, thanks to his major box-office classics like A Family Affair, Boys Town and many more. It’s a huge shock to the entire world and his global fan-club that the legendary actor is no more. Yesterday he breathed his last at his North Hollywood residence at the age of 93.

    Rooney was a complete package of entertainment throughout his life as an actor, singer and dancer. He has served the entertainment industry for eight decades with his magic spell on the stage as well as on both the small and big screens. He has been honoured with multiple awards including a Juvenile Academy Award, an Honorary Academy Award, two Golden Globes and an Emmy Award. He has been nominated for Oscars for four times. One of his co-stars, Carol Channing, said in a statement, “I loved working with Mickey on ‘Sugar Babies.’ He was very professional, his stories were priceless and I love them all … each and every one. We laughed all the time.” Rooney began his career at the age of 15 months and continued to develop as an entertainer spanning his entire life.
    As a teenager he won millions of hearts with films like My Pal the King, an adaptation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Manhattan Melodrama, Ah Wilderness, Little Lord Fauntleroy, Captains Courageous and Boy’s Town. His other popular films include Thoroughbreds Don't Cry, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Babes in Arms, all Andy Hardy movies, Night at the Museum, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Pulp, The Black Stallion, Little Nemo: Adventures In Slumberland, America: A Call to Greatness, The Muppets and so on. In his personal life Rooney has gone through several ups and downs and he got married eight times. Several Hollywood celebrities took to their Twitter pages to share their grief after Rooney’s death news broke out. Lena Dunham tweeted, “Mickey Rooney got all the best babes despite being short as hell. #RIP beautiful man” Thomas Lennon posted, “I would have watched another 93 years of Mickey Rooney. #rip” Rooney’s son Michael, a choreographer, also shared, It is with sadness that I say my father has passed today. I loved him and so did the world. He inspired so many. Rip dad. Your son.” Rooney will always remain in our hearts and remembered through his unforgettable contribution to the world of cinema, television and theatre. May his soul rest in peace.
