According to recent reports, students of grade 5 in Karnataka will get to study a 4-page chapter on matinee idol Dr Rajkumar. The government decided the same on the occasion of the late Kannada thespian’s 88th birthday on April 24. Google also honoured the actor with the doodle.

The Maharashtra government has had a chapter titled Natasarvabhouma on Rajkumar in the Class VIII Kannada textbook for nearly a decade now. Baraguru Ramachandrappa, Chairman of the Textbook Review Committee, revealed that the chapter will include the actor’s early life as well as career. The content will be compiled from the excerpts from Rajkumar's biography, which has been penned by journalist Doddahulluru Rukkoji.

About the same, Rajkumar’s youngest son Puneeth  stated, “This as an honour. It is a matter of pride for the entire family. I am not talking as his son, but as a fan, when I say that he is one of the few people who deserves something like this. A chapter on him will ensure that generations will know about his work, his principles and his simplicity. His discipline and humane nature are the biggest takeaways for me. He had the love and affection of all people, yet he led the simplest life. He taught me how it is most important to first love oneself and be comfortable with yourself — that feeling of contentment and simplicity is what I would consider my biggest lessons from him”.

Rajkumar was born in 1929 as Singanalluru Puttaswamyya Muthuraju and has acted in 200 films.
