    Kurukshetra: Kannada cinema’s biggest film to roll from August 6

    Thanks to the success of Baahubali franchise, everybody wants to go big and Kannada cinema is not behind when it comes to making something very aspirational. The industry is all set to get its first magnum opus in the form of Kurukshetra which will roll from August 6, an epic drama to be made on a budget of over Rs 100 crore. Earlier this month, producer Muniratna had told New Indian Express: “I have placed no limit on the budget. It will be decided during its making and this will be made to suit Indian standards.”




    The makers have so far confirmed that Darshan will play Duryodhana and Ravichandran will play Krishna. To be directed by Naganna, the film will be the retelling of Mahabharata from the point of view of Kaurava. According to a source from the film’s unit, most of the crew and crew are already finalised. Reliable source from the film’s unit has confirmed that the project also features Ambareesh as Bheeshma, Sneha as Draupadi, Lakshmi as Kunti and Nikhil Gowda as Arjun. Superstar Shivrajkumar was also offered one of the role but he declined the offers for reasons yet unknown.

    Huge sets have been erected in Ramoji Film City where the film will be predominantly shot. The film will start rolling from August 6 in Hyderabad. V Harikrishna has been roped in to compose music. The makers are aiming for a grand release during next year’s Sankranti festival.
