Shivarajkumar-starrer Om creates a new reord

Shivarajkumar-starrer Om, which had hit the screens on May 19, 1995, has apparently been re-released a whopping 550 times since then. In the entire 81-year history, the Upendra-directed film happens to be the first Kannada movie, which has made such a fantabulous record. The movie had broken all records on the box office during its initial release, and remains as one of the most iconic movies of all time till today.

According to the reports, the film has been premiered in 400 theatres across the state. Theatre owners show Om whenever, there is no new movie to release. Though Shivaraj Kumar was already a superstar when Om was released, this movie made him more popular among the movie-buffs.

The remarkable movie fetched Shivanna the Filmfare Best Actor Award as well as the Karnataka State Film Awards Best Actor Award. Lead actress Prema also won the State Award for Best Actress, Upendra for Best Screenplay and BC Gowrishankar for Best Cinematographer.
