Upset with online leak of Premam and no support from the industry, producer Anwar Rasheed has publically announced his resignation from film organisations. On the other hand, the entertainment industry does not believe the claim to be entirely true. Many have said that they did lift their fingers to tackle the concern of piracy.

The secretary of Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA), B Unnikrishnan, said, “It was me who called up Anwar Rasheed the very day the copies of the film surfaced online. After two days, he forwarded me the complaint he had made to the cybercrime division. I suggested he forward it to DGP Senkumar as well, and I called up Senkumar in person. I also visited the Home Minister the same day at his residence, and he called up Anwar and assured him that necessary actions will be taken”.

He further added, “Even if he distances himself, we won't allow it. The support of the producers' organisations will always be with him, and we will continue to fight the culprit”. Stating that a case has been already been filed, DYSP Iqbal said, “Simultaneously, we are carrying on with the investigation. We have arrested two people yesterday and three people from Malappuram today. Raids are on”.
