10 Popular TV Show Title Tracks And The Voices Behind Them

A lot has been said and discussed about the opening track of the cult HBO series Game of Thrones. Fans of the show would vouch that the music sets the mood for the show perfectly.

Even though, back home now the popularity of Indian TV show's title track has simmered down a little, throughout the 2000s  we have had some pretty iconic TV series and their equally iconic title tracks. All of us who grew up in the 2000s would have a certain familiarity with the tune and some enthusiasts would actually even remember the lyrics.

However, even after immense popularity if these songs, even the biggest Indian TV serial aficionados would trip if asked to name the singers of these tracks

Here is a list of 10 singers who were the voice behind these immensely popular title tracks.

Kyunki Ki Saans Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi

This hands down has to be one of the most iconic title tracks of tv serials ever. Every night when Tulsi welcomed us into her house and introduced us to her family, the voice that talked about worshipping 'rishtas' was that of a singer named Priya Bhattacharya, who was actually perhaps the voice behind some of the most popular serial title tracks in the 2000s.

    Kasauti Zindagi Ki

Another cult love story by none other than Ekta Kapoor, India understood the complex relationship of Anurag, Prerna, Komolika and Mr Bajaj better than they understood their own family members. The show before spiralling into an abyss of utter confusing matrimony actually started with a pretty cute love story and the title track was equally romantic. Priya Bhattacharya and Babul Supriyo's duet in the title track of the show is still fresh in the memory of many.

    KumKum

Given the popularity of both the show and the singer, it is kind of surprising that many fail to notice that the sugary sweet voice behind KumKum's title track was that of none other than Pamela Jain who has lent her voice to several Bollywood chart toppers.

    Diya aur Baati Hum

I admit tuning into the channel during the telecast time of this show just to hear the title track. With an authentic Rajasthani folk flavour, the track was hauntingly beautiful and had some seriously powerful vocals. But then when you have singers like Kailash Kher and Shubha Mudgal lending their voice to the track, what else can one expect.

    Bade Achhe Lagte Hai

Though it was partly inspired by the Kishore Kumar song of the same name, most of the song was actually a beautiful composition which Shreya Ghoshal with her vocals added further charms too.

    Left Right Left

The title track of this show was as fresh as its content. One of the few youth centric shows that actually got it right, the music of the title track composed by Vishal-Shekhar received many appreciations. The peppy, upbeat number was sung by none other than Kunal Ganjawala.

    Henna

Henna was one of the very few, if not the only serial to use a ghazal as its title track. Sung by the maestro himself, Jagjit Singh, this soul soothing number is hard to forget.

    Balika Vadhu

Another track that bore the scent of Rajasthan's soil was Balika Vadhu's title track. The innocent and haunting number was sung by a rather unknown Shobha Gurtu, who never received much recognition even though the show achieved a cult status and the song was extremely popular

    Pavitra Rishta

Sushant Singh Rajput's initial claim to fame, Pavitra Rishta was an audience favourite because of the chemistry between Manav and Archana, which to be honest, was pretty heart-warming. The title track sang by yet another not much-known entity, Keka Ghoshal, was not only beautifully sung but captured the right essence of the classic love story

    Kitni Mohabbat Hai

This one is a personal favourite of mine, and I am sure of many others. The plot of the serial heavily circled around music and the title track set the mood just right. Sung by reality show contestants Aishwarya Nigam and Manjera Ganguly this track could actually give a lot of famous romantic numbers of Bollywood a run for its money.
