Since television celebrities shoot for daily soaps, getting a day off is a luxury they can rarely afford, but when they do, on occasions such as Diwali, they ensure that they make the most of it. While some are all set to go to on a health retreat, some are planning to throw parties for close friends. Here are five of your favourite TV celebs, spilling the beans on how they plan to ring in Diwali this year.

It’s a festival where we, TV actors, get a day off, which is a luxury when you are doing a daily soap! Usually, we don’t get holidays. I have bought a new house, and if all goes well, I will be celebrating the festival at my new place. Though I loved bursting crackers earlier, since the past two years, it’s been a conscious decision to not do it. Also, my friends have been pestering me to give them a party, as my show has been doing well, and I have bagged a few awards too. I will be inviting them home for dinner.

I am going to get two days leave, but I really hope it becomes three days, because then I will move away from the hustle-bustle of the city to a health retreat, and do my prayers in my heart! Also, I have never been a cracker-loving person. I had a female Labrador when I was a child; whenever she would hear the loud noise of the crackers on Diwali, her heartbeat would shoot high. A vet has told me that animals can even get a heart attack, because they hear sounds ten times louder than us. I remember spending the night holding my dog close to me, comforting her.

I have come to believe that people should stay away from crackers as they are not only unsafe but are also causing a lot of pollution.

My most memorable Diwali moment was in my childhood. I remember, in our lane, we had a bua ji we were irritated with. She lived in a white house. One day, a cow had pooped outside her house; we put a rasi bomb on top of the gobar. The result was gobar all over her white house, her entire house was in cow dung. She got to know who it was. Though we had a Happy Diwali, we had to clean the cow dung the next day.

So this year, guys, please enjoy a cracker-less Diwali! Since the festival of Diwali is all about family and friends, this year, too, I will be celebrating Diwali with my family and close friends, here at home in Mumbai!

I have already begun my packing and am deciding what clothes to wear! Since we all (my family) rarely get to meet, this is one time where we all will eat together, pray, spend quality time and enjoy ourselves! My mom-in-law cooks really well, so I am feeling privileged because I will be fed really good food! So this is also going to be some good saas-bahu quality time for me.

This year’s Diwali is, of course, going to be extra-special for me, since it’s my last Diwali at my maayka (mother’s home) before I get married. My next Diwali will be at my husband’s place. I am feeling a bit low, but that’s how it is with every girl before her wedding. But I am going to celebrate it khulke with my family.
