7 Tamil Movies That Took Our Heart Away

7 Tamil Movies That Took Our Heart Away

There are some movies in Kollywood that took our heart away! More than a decade old, these movies have been such an important part of our lives, it’s like we have grown up, literally trying to be like the characters in them (who wouldn’t want to be as cool as Maddy, riding away to Alaipayuthey playing in the background!).Here are 8 movies that force our heart to become old school at Kollywood!

7 Tamil Movies That Took Our Heart Away

    1. Minnale

Besides the movie’s songs being an absolute hit, Minnale brought back puppy-love to our hearts! This movie was one of the rare movies which made us believe that everything is indeed fair in love and war.

P.S: The background music of Minnale was absolutely mesmerizing!

    2. Kandukondain Kandukondain

What we absolutely loved about this movie was the cinematography and the songs! Apart from that, it had a dazzling star cast – Mammootty, Ajith, Aishwarya Rai and Tabu, which was in itself treat enough for the average Kollywood cinema lover!

P.S: Some of this movie’s songs (specially Enna Solla Pogirai and Kanamoochi) still remain on repeat mode on our Ipods!

    3. Boys

A musical in Kollywood that was a big hit with the youth, the secret of success for this movie was its ability to transport all of us back to our college days!

P.S: The Siddharth loyalists are so looking forward to Jigarthanda this year!

    4. Unnale Unnale

Another musical, Unnale Unnale definitely hit it big with the crowd. This movie made us laugh and sometimes cry, thoroughly entertaining us at every point.

P.S: Underlying the complexities of a love relationship, Unnale Unnale dared to showcase the realism of a love-hate relationship between sweethearts rather than the fairytale gibberish (which BTW we secretly love, but are too cool to admit!).

    5. Alaipayuthey

It was really difficult for us to compress the reasons for loving Alaipayuthey! Madhavan definitely topped the list. Alaipayuthey brought forward real romance, the bittersweet relationship between a husband and wife. Karthik wooing away Shakti only to marry her secretly and move in with her to an apartment with the help of their friends made the movie a definite hit with all college students who had budding romances in their own life then!

P.S: Shalini biting the chilli in Pachchai Nirame makes this movie thousand times more worth it!

    6. Ghajini

A psychological thriller, Ghajini made us switch between aww-ing at the love between the lead characters and gripping our seats in suspense of what would happen next.

P.S: The story was directed so powerfully that you literally take a mental trip with Sanjay on his journey to seek revenge for his love.

    7. 7G Rainbow Colony

7G Rainbow Colony left us smiling with tears in our eyes. A love story that seemed impossible in the beginning turned out to be impossible in the end too (for very different reasons though). A cross cultural love affair, 7G Rainbow Colony proved that true love recognizes no barriers.

P.S: The fact that the tagline of the movie said that it was based on a true story, made it doubly interesting for its viewers!
