The newly launched film Trisha Illana Nayanthara, while appealing to the male crowd, has gathered some criticism from the female fans. They have stated that the movie was offensive and misogynistic. The director Adhik Ravichandran has shared his thoughts about the film and how it should be viewed. Trisha Illana Nayanthara has flourished at the box office.

He said, “Very few ladies saw the film on Day 1, frankly. Majorly, guys have gone to theaters. The few ladies in my circle who saw the film didn't find it that offensive and felt that it was enjoyable and within tolerable limits. We didn't deliberately target women, and the film is just a virgin boy's perspective. We filmed what is happening currently and have filtered out a lot of things naturally”.

The director added, “But I have to say that I was shocked to see families in theaters. There are films which are specifically targeted at families but for my film I'll say 'please do not come to theaters with your families'. The film is clearly one-sided and is targeted at young men. We didn't want to mislead with gimmicks and make the film accessible to the families, by cutting fake trailers and teasers. Our promos were clear in their communication about the film and we settled for an 'A' certificate happily. Audiences can't be cheated, and it will backfire badly if we try to”.
