AMR Ramesh To Make A Film Based On The Life Of DIG D. Roopa

Filmmaker AMR Ramesh is popular for making movies which are inspired from real-life stories. Cyanide, Vanayuddham and Oru Melliya Kodu are some of his films that were based on Rajiv Gandhi killing, forest brigand Veerappan and suspicious death of Sunanda Pushkar, respectively. And now Ramesh is back once again in making a film for which he is best known for.

The filmmaker is now planning to bring the story of DIG D. Roopa to silver screen. Roopa made headlines when she reported about the special treatment given to AIADMK leader VK Sasikala at Parappana Agrahara prison where she is currently serving a jail term. However, after her controversial report, she was transferred to a different department - Traffic and Road Safety in charge.

Ramesh has taken permission from Roopa of making a film on her. And now you must be wondering which actress the filmmaker would rope in to portray the role the DIG. Though Ramesh has not finalised any actress, but he is planning to bring either Nayanthara or Anushka Shetty on board for the role. Ramesh said that he is meeting other members of the community to get more details and will take about a month to complete the script. He further stated that he would finalise the cast only after completing the script.

The new flick will be partly a biopic of Roopa. It would focus on the treatment and privileges given to Sasikala in the jail and the huge money exchanged in return which Roopa reported.

Talking to Deccan Chronicle, Ramesh said, "Yes, I have taken due consent from Roopaji and I'm now in the process of researching the various issues involved. Roopa madam has earlier exposed large-scale irregularities in the prison system like drug abuse by inmates, special treatment to Abdul Karim Telgi of the fake stamp paper scam, but it was her exposing Sasikala, which made her an overnight sensation. I need full proof of all the happenings as they are imperative for me before I proceed with the script-writing."
