The cast of National Award-winning director S.P. Jhananathan’s next project, Purampokku, has been finalised by the filmmaker as Arya and Vijay Sethupathi have been opted for the lead roles in the film. The project is slated to undergo production in November.

The director confirmed by saying, "'Purampokku' is a word that we usually use to refer to property that does not belong to anyone in particular. Though the word is used to demean others, it actually has a deeper connotation. Our ancestors have left more than 15 types of purampokku lands for us, and they are used illegally by people with power. The film will deal with one such purampokku land. We will extensively shoot the film in the north, in places like Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan. We are now hunting for suitable locations there."

When asked about the replacement of Jiiva with Vijay Sethupathi, the director affirmed, "I've worked with both Ravi and Jiiva, and thought I would feel comfortable working with them again. But later, we decided to go with a fresh cast. Both Arya and Vijay Sethupathi fit the bill perfectly, and they will be seen in a completely different avatar.” Ekambaram and V.T. Vijayan will be the cinematographer and editor respectively in the film. The female leads and rest of the cast are still not declared though.
