Dhanush acted saviour to Kaakka Muttai

Kaakka Muttai, the film which bagged two National Film Awards at the 2015 ceremony, has a sad story behind its pre-production stage. Vetrimaatan, the filmmaker, had a great script on his hand but did not have enough funds to produce the project alone. Disappointed by the situation, he asked writer-director M. Manikandan to come up with a second draft of the screenplay and finally their stars shined when they received a call from Dhanush.

"It turned out to be an even better story and gave me the confidence to pick up the phone and call up Dhanush, who asked me to mail him the script immediately", recalled the happy co-producer. The actor scanned just ten pages of the script and 15 minutes later, he assured that he will produce the project. The flick was then co-produced by Dhanush and Vetrimaaran.

Kaakka Muttai is a 2014 children-based flick that features newcomers in the lead roles. The film took two years to complete but Dhanush’s patience paid him off with the success of the path-breaking film. Dhanush now looks forward to produce some more children-based films. He said, “This is just the beginning. I hope some good scripts come my way so that I can do something just as nice”.
