Director Velappan Is Back With Yaakkai

Taking break from direction, for as long as six years, director Kulandai Velappan, is back here with Yaakkai. The movie is touted to be a romantic thriller, which stars Krishna, Swathi Reddy, Prakash Raj and Guru Somasundaram. Yaakkai is all set to hit cinemas on March 3, which would clash Arivazhagan’s Kuttram 23.

Spilling the beans on the storyline, make Velappan said, “When I finished the script of Yaakkai, I had the challenge of blending two genres — a love story and a crime-thriller. Love plays a major role in everyone’s life and how it loses its importance in today’s world is being handled in the movie. Cinema, being a mass medium, I want to incorporate infotainment in my scripts”.

The Aanmai Thavarel maker revealed about Prakash Raj’s character and said, “Prakash Raj plays an unruly cop and as soon as I finished narrating the script, he agreed to be a part of the flick. For the female lead, I envisioned Swathi”. In this flick, Guru Somasundaram, would portray the character of the lead antagonist.
