After working as an associate under Pushkar-Gayathri and Mysskin, director and writer Halitha Shameem is all set to make her directorial debut with Poovarasam Peepee. "The film happens during a summer holiday, starting with the last day of school and ending with the boys going back to school," says the newcomer.

"One of the boys, Vasanth, has already acted in Aaranya Kaandam and Veyyil. We had advertised on local cable channels and selected Pravin Kishore who reached out to us after seeing it. As for Gaurav Kaalai, I met him accidentally. I was scouting for locations around Madurai when I saw Gaurav hanging out with his friends at a theatre. I started observing them and noticed that they were actually trying to shoot a movie using a digi-cam! And, it matched with the sketch I had in my mind for the character. Though all three are young boys, each one has unique characteristics." She answered, when asked about the star cast.

When inquired about the challenges she had to face while working with child artists, she replied, "Actually, it was more comfortable. When I was assisting, I have narrated scenes to established actors and they would often be preoccupied... with their costumes, looks and so on. But, here, I only had to convey what I wanted to these boys and they would keenly observe and do it without any complaints." The film, produced and filmed by Manoj Paramahamsa is a tale about summertime adventures of three boys and is expected to hit the floors on May 30.
