He waited for more than an hour back stage before making his appearance on the dais. He was limping which did raise a lot of speculations. A close source revealed, "He sprained his leg on Saturday while shooting for the film. He went to the hospital from the set and consulted the doctor and then straightaway headed to the award function as he had already committed to being a part of it. Though the actor has been asked to take rest, he will resume shooting for Uttama Villain soon." The director of the film however denied Kamal being injured while filming a stunt, "Kamal did not sustain the injury during a stunt or an action scene. He had a small muscle pull and has been advised a day's rest" he said.

While for all the Vishwaroopam fans, the news came from Kamal himself when he said that his next is going to be Uttama Villain and not the sequel to Vishwaroopam, "Vishwaroopam 2 involves a lot of CG work and though we have already started work on it, it will take a little more time," the actor/producer/director said.
