The Madras High Court has dropped the petition filed by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP). The petition aimed to put a stay on the release of the film Uttama Villain. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad also demanded that a song on Lord Vishnu be deleted from the movie.

The court said that there was no substance of eminence in the appeal. Justice T. Raja dismissed the writ petition filed by the Vishwa Hindu Parshad. The VHP claimed that, the lyrics of a song had mocked a conversation between Prahlad, a Vishnu devotee, and his father Hiranyakaship, a demon and this offended the feelings of the Hindu community. The VHP went on to say that, if the movie is allowed to release it would bring shame on the Hindu Community.

Uttama Villain is slated for release on May 1. The movie has been produced by Kamal Haasan, S. Chandrahasan, N. Lingusamy along with N. Subash Chandrabose. The script of the film has been written by Kamal Haasan, while the movie will be helmed by Ramesh Aravind. The flick features Kamal Haasan, Urvashi, Jayaram and Parvathi in the leading roles.
