Lingaa’s audio releases amidst much hype

Our own Thalaiva will soon be returning to the silver screen with K.S. Ravi Kumar’s Lingaa. The movie is all set to hit the screens on the megastar’s birthday, December 12.Last seen in a science fiction techno thriller Enthiran, Rajinikanth has high hopes from Lingaa. Yesterday, the film’s audio was launch amid much hypeat Sathyam Cinemas in the presence of Rajinikanth, K.S. Ravi Kumar and lead actresses Anushka Shetty and Sonakshi Sinha.

Rajinikanth admitted that he agreed to do the film on one condition. “I told K.S. Ravi Kumar that he had to guarantee that the film could be released within this year. I did not want to do another film which was going to take 2-3 years to shoot.”

The superstar was not well and his illness even threatened to end his career three years ago. Explaining the delay after Enthiran, Rajini added, “After I recovered, I wanted to announce another film only after the release of Kochadaiiyaan. It was a film that was not getting released and I had to make sure it got a release”.

Meanwhile, ace-filmmaker Shankar confessed that he needs to learn the knack of making films fast from director KS Ravi Kumar, who apparently completed Lingaa in less than six months. "How does Ravi Kumar sir finish his films so quickly? I want to learn from him to make movies fast," said the filmmaker.

"I've been told the business of the film (Lingaa) has already surpassed Enthiran. I am sure it will do much better than any of Rajini sir's films," he added.

Director K.S. Ravi Kumar thanked the entire cast and crew which made it possible. “We all had to work on a tight schedule and clear deadlines without a break. Even A.R. Rahman, who was working on multiple projects, took it up as a challenge to deliver the tunes on a deadline. Finishing a film of this magnitude in such a short span of time is impossible,” he said.

Rajini added, “We wanted to prove to the industry that a period film could be finished in such a short span of time. This was possible only because of K.S. Ravi Kumar.”
