Manchu Manoj is gearing up for his upcoming film Naan Thirumbha Varuven, which is a Tamil remake of Telugu movie Okkadu Migaladu. The flick will see Manchu portraying the role of a political leader. It is believed that his character will have shades of LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran.

The film has been directed by debutant Ajay Andrews. Talking about the film, Manchu said, “The director named the Tamil version as Naan Thirumbha Varuven, because whenever the society is failing — there is always a leader or hero who comes to save the day. It is a cycle, so the name denotes that.”

He adds, “The film is a comparison between a leader, who fought for his people back then, with a student leader of this time. When leaders die, they are not gone forever — they keep coming back; that’s the theme of the film.” To prep up for his role, Manoj put on weight. He also said that he likes working with a mixture of Tamil and Telugu actors and directors.
