    'Nagesh Thiraiyarangam' Makers Face Trouble

According to recent reports, yesteryear hero Anand Babu has filed a defamation case against the makers of the new movie ‘Nagesh Thiraiyarangam’. The Isaq directorial stars Aari and Ashna Zaveri in the lead roles. The teaser of the upcoming horror drama was launched by superstar Rajinikanth a few months ago.

Late legendary comedian Nagesh’s son and actor Anand filed the case at the Madras High Court, seeking the film’s ban. He stated in his petition, “My father, the late Nagesh, had acted in more than 1000 films and also built a theatre in T. Nagar — he was running it. The producers of the film, Nagesh Thiraiyarangam, did not take prior permission from us to use his name. Also, such a title is aimed to bring disregard to my dad’s name and fame. Hence, I seek a ban on the said movie”.

Earlier, in an interview, Isaq had said, “Aari’s character name is ‘Nagesh’ in the film. And his father is an ardent fan of late comedian Nagesh and he owns the theatre named after the latter. The film revolves around the theatre”. If reports are to be believed, Anand has also claimed a compensation of Rs 50 lakh for defaming his father’s name. Nagesh Theatre was converted into a wedding hall years ago.

The court has sent a notice to the filmmakers with a copy to the Tamil Film Producers’ Council.
