Earlier Vijay has worked with Sara in Deiva Thirumagal. He said, "She has transformed herself so well since we worked the last time. She is the hero of 'Saivam'. She's the real star of the film. When you see the film, you'll realize that she carries the story on her shoulders. I'm sure she's going to floor the audience with her performance.” Saivam revolves around Sara and her pet fowl which is called Papa. One day Papa disappears and the story follows its aftermath and happenings in Sara’s village. Vijay added, "It's a family drama at heart. The story will instill lost family ethics in the audience.” Saivam also stars Nassar and introduces newcomers like Baasha, Twara Desai and others in key roles. Sara debuted at the age of six in TV commercials and she has acted in Hindi films too like 404 and Ek Thi Daayan.
